eCommerce and web site design companies are the answer, not in-house departments or template options

I highly recommend that you avoid the cost of creating an ecommerce/web design department within your company. On the other hand, only the smallest businesses will be served by using the simple template based web sites. The rest should find an independent web site and ecommerce design firm that has built dozens of successful sites, takes the time to ascertain your needs, and designs a results driven web site based on your company’s goals. It sometimes helps to work with a wed design firm that resides in your area. For example for those in NJ and PA, Majenic is such a company. In Chicago, I’d recommend Alpha Web. However, the web itself means that you can choose a web site design firm across the country or around the world.
